SAP R3, SAP ERP, SAP Netweaver

SAP R/3 is an integrated, branch-neutral standard software covering almost all business purposes exist in a company


SAP R/3 was the most successful product from the history of SAP. Dominating the market since 1990s.

SAP ERP is a standard software package that covers all vital business processes within a company and provides functions for both corporate headquarters and small subsidiaries. SAP ERP is a combination of components that integrate people, information and processes com-prehensively and flexibly. Thereby, it is designed in such a way that companies can imple-ment only the business functions they need when they need them, thus, simplifying upgrades and reducing total cost of ownership. SAP ERP is embedded in SAP Netweaver.

SAP Business Suite, which is powered by SAP Netweaver as a technical platform, is a complete package of enterprise solutions that link people, infor-mation and processes and, therefore, improve the effectiveness of business relationships.

SAP NetWeaver is the primary technology computing platform of the software company SAP AG (Web based, open integration), and the technical foundation for many SAP applications. It is a solution stack of SAP's technology products. The SAP Web Application Server (sometimes referred to as WebAS) is the runtime environment for the SAP applications, and all of the mySAP Business Suite solutions (SRM, CRM, SCM, PLM, ERP) run on SAP WebAS.

ERP Systems are integrated computer-based systems used to manage all the issues within company. ERP Systems are used to manage internal and external resources, including tangible assests, financial resources, materials and human resources. From a technical point of view, ERP is a software architecture whose purpose to facilitate the information flow between all business functions inside the boundaries of the organisation and manage the connections to outside stakeholders. Built on centralized database and normally utilizing a common computing platform, ERP Systems consolidate all business operations into a uniform and enterprise-wide system environment.



The ERP system is considered a vital organizational tool because it integrates varied organizational systems and facilitates error-free transactions and production. However, ERP system development is different from traditional systems development. SAP AG (German: Systeme, Anwendungen, Produkte / English: Systems, Applications, Products in Data Processing) was founded in 1972 by five former IBM employees. Today, SAP is the third-largest independent software vendor. SAP’s head office is located in Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
The company has developed several independent software products to help business better meet their customer needs [enterprise resource planning] an application systems and management known as (SAP ERP), its enterprise data warehouse product – SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW), Materials Management [MM] module software, a Sales and Distribution [SD] application that aids the company in adding customer sales transactions, Controlling [CO] module when a company needs internal reporting. All of these software applications can be purchased à la carte or in a software package know as SAP Enterprise Central Component [ECC] system. A new feature recently added to the SAP functionality is Sybase mobile products and the in-memory computing appliance SAP HANA that allows users to access SAP on their mobile device.
